In December 2024, the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), released its new Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) (2024). The ASWEAS 2024 set the minimum standards required for a social work program from a tertiary institution to be accredited.
There is considerable concern about the level of consultation and engagement with social work educators. Based on this we are calling on the AASW to reopen consultation with social worker educators and other stakeholders.
